Treasury yields fell to historic lows overnight Friday as the United Kingdom voted to exit the European Union. The move was a shock to global markets that had expected the U.K. to vote to remain.

When listing the impacts of the exit vote in his morning note, Greg Valliere, chief global strategist for Horizon Investments, included the impact on Federal Reserve policy: “Janet Yellen’s reaction: Not only is a rate hike off the table for the rest of the year, weaker economic growth may prompt the the Fed to consider what once was unthinkable: non-traditional monetary policies.”
